We built a small art gallery (or art box) on our front sidewalk. It’s a public, kid art project I’ve been thinking about for a long time. So happy it is now alive!
We took some inspiration from little free libraries, but then adapted to show art. Another house in our California town has a very professional art gallery, with different exhibits. We love how inspiring it is!
For our Little Free Art Box, our goal is that neighborhood kids can install their small artworks in the box. We constructed a heavy Redwood post, got it fixed in the ground, and then installed a used packing container (very strong particle board) and a plexiglass open-able display box on top of it (with velcro feet, so we can take it off & move it around. Our first theme is for ‘houses’ and ‘faces’.
